Disabling Quicktime.

For Windows users only

Quicktime does not support progressive downloading of mpeg files but windows media player does. Progressive downloading basically means you can see the movie as it downloads without having to wait for the entire movie to download. When you installed Quicktime it nominated itself the default player of online movies and this guide will show you how to disable this feature.

Firstly it is worth checking that quicktime is actually installed, if you are seeing this icon when you follow the movie links on this site then you have quicktime installed as your default online movie handler:

Second you need to open your windows control panel by selecting "Settings" then "control panel" from the Start menu on the desktop. Then double click this icon which should be on the control panel:

Now click the mime settings button:

Deselect any options that may be highlighted in the MPEG option untill it is blank like the one below:

And finally hit the O.K button when you are happy with the changes you've made. Remember, you can always go through these steps again and change these quicktime settings if anything goes wrong.

Now by following the movie links on this site you should find movies which open in your alternate media player from quicktime. This is usually Windows media player and if you have any troubles we suggest you download the latest version of it here.
